Lee County Elections Supervisor Sharon Harrington noted a smooth start to today's voting with only a few glitches. Outside of a locked door that kept one precinct from opening for 15 minutes after the 7 a.m. start (a key was found for a deadbolt lock before a locksmith was going to force the door open), the biggest issue has been the transition to new voting machines, Harrington said. The county predicts a quick tabulation of the votes even with the new equipment, Harrington said, and voters should expect the county's usual efficient reports on voting totals after 7 p.m. closing of the polls.
