About 80 people voted at Lely Presbyterian Church in East Naples by 10:30 a.m., but it was all trickle-in traffic throughout the morning, said poll worker Salvatore Giglio.
"The local elections are really important elections," he said. Voter Patricia Cogan is adament that the school board members be replaced but her wrath is at Superintendent Dennis Thompson, who has cut the exceptional student education program for kids with special needs, like her grandson who is autistic. He and his mother moved to Pennsylvania this year for a better program for his needs there.
"It's absolutely ludicrous in this county that has so much money (to cut that program)," she said. "The students are all being shortchanged and it is all for money." -- Liz Freeman
