A few months back, the Naples Daily News asked me if I would like to do a blog. I have always felt that The Letters to the Editor is one of the strongest parts of the paper.
Educated, thanks to my parents, as a traditional, practicing Catholic. One who attempts to practice openly without apology, the teachings of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I was happy to be given this opportunity, although not sure as to what to call my contributions. It was suggested, Finnegan on Traditonal Values. That sounded like what I would be writing.
As one who over the past 40 years wrote, and have had published, hundreds of letters describing efforts as an "on the street" activist for LIFE and MARRIAGE/FAMILY, it should not come as a surprise for any who would choose to read a column, entitled, Finnegan on traditional values. Todays column concentrates on President Obama's Health Care plan, HB 3200.
Lets start with what is now referred to as the social issues.
Much of Obama's Health care plan, starting with forcing us to fund abortion on demand with our tax dollars for any and all reasons, at any time during the first nine months of life, are not traditional values. With over 70% of all citizens, thats both pro choice and Pro Life, not wanting to pay for someone else's abortions, one would think that this is certainly not a traditional value. Especially when one realizes that over 50% of all abortions are repeat abortions on the same woman. With Planned Parenthood, abortion has now become part of their brand of birth control.
The most traditional value of all remains LIFE, and a deep respect for it by all. The importance of this is shown in our Declaration of Independence affirmed July 4th, 1776. "We hold these things to be self- evident, that all men are created with certain UNALIENABLE rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Not much opportunity to achieve the liberty and happiness part when life itself is denied.
Now lets look at some of the economic parts of Obama's HB 3200, that it would be a stretch to consider Traditional Values.
Page 50/section 152. "The bill will provide insurance to all non residents, even if here illegally."
Page 58-59. " The government will have access to our bank accounts, and the authority to make electronic fund transfers from said accounts."
164 "The plan will be subsidized by our government for all union members, (wonder how many voted for Obama?) retirees, and community organizations." (such as ACORN was)
253 "Doctors will be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all fees." Wow, traditional values way out the window on this one, with brain surgeons being paid the same as proctologists. I guess to Obama, it's just a little different part of the anatomy.
1145 "Cancer hospital will ration care accorting to the patients age."
"The government MANDATES advance-care planning consultations. Those on social security will be REQUIRED to attend an end-of-live planning seminar every five years."
Wonder where many got the idea of "death panels?" Wonder no more.
We also have the blatant lie of President Obama in his statement about HB 3200. "NO family making over $250,000 a year will see ANY form of tax increase. Not income tas, payroll tax, or capital gains tax, not any of your taxes." How many of you realize that if you sell your house after 2012 you will pay a 3.8% sales tax on its sale. That's $11,400 on a $300,000 sale. It is in the bill, in order to help pay for it. What a "present" this one is to the Baby Boomers generation as they continue to retire and downsize.
Then the real clincher, "This bill will not apply to members of Congress who are already exampt from the social security system, and have a well funded private plan covering their retirement needs." Very hard to find any traditional values in this blatant bias. Not when we could be assured if they were on our social security plan, they would be quick to fix the plan to assure it is once again financially secure for their future.
My thaks to the honorable Judge David Kithil of Marble Falls, Texas who actually took the time to read and study all 2000 plus pages of this Traditional Values killing Obama HB 3200. Too bad all of our members of Congress did not do the same. Could we have expected any less before they put their pen and John Henry to the document so important to all of us.
Though not directly within Obama's Health Care Plan, Obama's stated willingness to throw away 2000 years of sacramental marriage, the marriage of our forefathers which has kept America strong and the envy of all nations, certainly is void of any traditional values. Traditional marriage, remains God's way of continuing HIS people from generation to generation.
No question where Obama stands on this one. His remarks during his recent State of the Union speech cleared that up. He realizes that the Civil Unions he endorses will soon be followed by a "seperate but equal" argument leading to faux marriage by homosexual activists.
If you want to keep these Traditional Values, your November 2012 vote becomes the most important vote you will ever make. Don't fail to speak out at this time where all Traditional Values begin, that would be the voting booth.
"If we are not part of the solution, we become part of the problem."
