Local Remodelers Council Receives National Awards

FROM THE FLOOR UP by Tom Dardis

The following article ran in last Saturday’s on line edition of Naples Daily News. As one of the directors of CBIA’s Remodelers Council, I am very proud of the council, the work the council does and the individual members that make up the council. I am sure that the entire membership is behind a great big “CONGRATULATIONS!” to Bill and Carrie.
I have known Bill Varian since he was a very young man helping his Dad and learning the business. He has come a long way and his list of accomplishments is certainly inspiring. I have only known Carrie Horner for a few years and she immediately earned my respect through her unselfish dedication, inspiring work ethic, and most of all, Carrie is a very nice person. CBIA is a better organization because Bill and Carrie are there!

CBIA members are known for their fine work as well as their contribution to our community. Watch for CBIA sponsored events during this upcoming Holiday season and lend a hand to those that work for you.

Remember to protect yourself and hire only licensed contractors.

Here is the story:

The Collier Building Industry Association’s Remodelers Council has been honored with three CADRE Awards from the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB).
The highest national award that a local Remodelers Council can achieve, the NAHB
CADRE Awards are presented annually to councils that exemplify the best practices of the remodeling industry. The awards will be formally presented at the NAHB Remodelers Annual Gala in Indianapolis on Oct. 29.
The council received a CADRE Project Award for Government Affairs/Legislation for its efforts on several initiatives, including creating public awareness for and regulating
unlicensed/unpermitted construction activity, zoning regulations, and working with
Collier County staff on developing efficiencies in the permitting process.
Two individuals from the CBIA Remodelers Council have also been honored with
CADRE Awards. Bill Varian, CGR, CAPS, CGP, has been named Outstanding Council
Chair and Carrie Horner has been named Outstanding Executive Officer/Council
Coordinator.
Varian, a Florida state certified general contractor and roofing contractor, also holds
the Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS),
and Certified Green Professional (CGP) designations from NAHB. He is the president
of William J. Varian Construction Co. Inc., which offers a variety of construction and
remodeling services for both residential and commercial clients.
Horner is CBIA’s Director of Member Services and manages all events and educational
initiatives for CBIA members. She serves as staff liaison to the Remodelers Council, as
well as the association’s Business Builder and Sales & Marketing Councils. Horner
holds a degree in marketing from the University of Florida.
