Let's make hole locations a little tougher

Playable Lies

Lye birdied five of the last six holes to shoot 3-under and is tied for 22nd.

I think the field staff had the golf course set up incredibly easy in the hole locations, which is understandable because it's the first round, but I would like to see them set up a little tougher on the greens.

I think it's playing fairly accurate as far as the yardage. I think it's playing the right speed. I think the greens are the perfect speed. To me, it's a perfect setup if they would get a little bit more difficult on the hole locations. Unless you get difficult out here, they will burn it up. That's one thing for sure.

I'm not surprised Bobby Wadkins played well. This is a perfect course for him. He's a ball-hitter. This is a ball-hitter's golf course. He's got a little bit more length.

I think it's a great venue. as usual you hate to see everyone just light it up, but that's how good the strength of field is out here.

I'm glad to see Peter Jacobsen had a good round. I was out there watching the board and I know how big a week this is for anyone that lives here. And Wayne Levi's up there, which is nice.

I hadn't played in a tournament since last September. I was 2-over with six holes to go and I said "Even par's going to be a good score for me.'' I knocked a ball out of bounds with a 3-wood. I can't remember the last time I did that. I three-putted a hole from real short range.

But the last six holes, I putted very, very well. I hit it close on No. 13. I knocked it in the rough and then knocked my wedge close, about 10 feet. And then I hit it close on No. 15, the par-3 with a 4-iron, hit it about five feet there. And then I chipped in on No. 16, which was a key shot of the whole round for me. That kind of kept it going. I was just trying to get up-and-down and it went in the hole.

No. 17 is the toughest hole out here because of the tee shot. I hit a 3-wood and a 9-iron to about 10 feet and made that. On No. 18, I hit driver-4-wood and two-putted from 25 feet.

I need to eliminate one side of the fairway and I was missing it on both sides. I've got to get on the range and see how this new swing can eliminate one side of the fairway.
