Naples and Marco Island Fishing Report

Fishing Report Friday Sept. 8th

Posted September 8, 2006

Fishing this past week has been very good, we have been catching large numbers of Snook, both at night and in the day time. Took two night trips this week and each night my anglers boated better than twenty Snook on Fly. The fly of choice has been a small 1 inch white-yellow-orange Fiba blend baitfish. All white has been producing also. Just keep the size under two inches. Both anglers caught fish aproaching 30 inches and released them to fight another day. The day time fishing has been good also. fished Wednesday with one of my long time clients. fishing first light in Gordon Pass yielded about 13 snook on Fly, he was using a Tan Muddler and fishing it very slow against the rocks on the south side. One of the fish he caught was just under keeper size. We then went and fished some bays on the Intercoastal and tallied two reds and five more Snook. I hope fishing continues like this the rest of the Summer.

Bait Fishing has been good if you can get the right type of bait. Talked to a Captain that fished Tuesday and Wednesday and he said it took him a while to find bait but once he did they got into the fish hard, catching lots of big Snook. I was also told that the Tarpon are showing up in Front of Doctors Pass in the bait schools. If they are there than look for them anywhere from The Naples Pier North to Wiggins Pass. They are usually within 1000 yards of the beach. Good Luck an dGood Fishing Roan z.
