Naples and Marco Island Fishing Report

Fishing was getting better until another Nor Easter shuts us down.

Posted April 16, 2007

Fishing last week was going strong when MR. Winter decided to blow in again with a heavy winded Cold Front. Had to cancel my Sunday and Monday Excursions. I would rather cancel then take people on an adventure when i know fishing is going to be non exsistent. I think the guys that take unsuspecting customers out on trips when there is no hope just to get paid is just plain wrong. Anyhow, back to the fishing, if the weather and wind lay down i think fishing should rebound by the end of the week. Tarpon will be up and moving again and Snook fishing should get back on course.

I hope this will be the last report about Cold Fronts and we can talk about summer fishing and how good it is. If you must get out try the deeper channels and cuts next to the Flats from Naples to Marco, the fish should be hiding there.

Remmember for you boaters that are going out of Bayview Park in Naples. It will be closed atleast this week for Hamilton Harbor dredging. Check with Parks and recreation, I wouldn't be surprised if they are closed into next week with as much work as they are planning to do. Thanks and remmember when the wind is blowing it is the perfect time to perfect your flycasting in tough windy conditions so get out and practice. Good Casting Rz.
