Fishing in the wind is tricky even for the most advanced Fly Anglers. Tricky but not impossible. Thankfully we have enough out of the wind places to be able to score some nice Snook and Reds. The big problem is I am finding my best fish on the windy shorelines. Chuck and duck I say. Just kidding. IF you fish the windy shorelines you just have to remmember to keep the cast simple low and try and keep the wind at your back quarter. Kep your line tight slack in the cast is your ticket to an unwanted fly earing.

Back to the fishing! Snook and Reds have been scattered about from the creeks in the back country to the outside passes and on the beaches. The only thing I can tell you is cover plenty of water, the fish seem to be actively feeding so when you hit some stay with it and try the area some more. There seems to always be a couple when you catch one. The reds are scattered and mixed with the snook. We thru at a nice Red today in the 27 inch range. The fish charged the fly grabbed and missed by angler only to have a nice 24 inch Snook take on the next strip.

Tarpon Fishing has definetly not been good for me, I hope someone is catching them. I have caught a few at night and jumped atleast one small one just about every trip. We just can't seem to land them. I do not think they are taking the fly well, they are just slashing at it. Hopefully we will get some help and winds will calm and the Tarpon will get happy and start rolling again. Keep fishing and casting and good thing will happen! Roan z.
