Barack Obama, darling of the media

Personally Speaking by Sam Person

Barack Obama’s unprecedented arrogance allows him to assume that he can govern on his own terms – blaming political opponents whenever and however he can, ignoring congress and our constitution when it suits him, and tripping over himself to satisfy groups within his electoral base.

Have no doubt that Obama could not get away with what he does without the full cooperation, encouragement, and devotion of the American “mainstream media.”

Would Barack Obama be President today if the same adoring media asked penetrating questions during his 2008 campaign about his associations with Rev. Wright, William Ayers, Tony Rezko – among others?

Would Barack Obama be President today if the media had taken him to task for his many gaffes, flip-flops, and/or contradictions –as was the case with George W. Bush then, and aspiring Republican presidential candidates today?

Would Barack Obama be President today if the media looked beyond the smooth-talking manner in which he juggles fact and fiction and sought straight answers?

Would Barack Obama be President today if the media had raised questions about his work and real-world experience prior to running for elected office?

Would Barack Obama be President today if the media questioned his affinity for degrading his own country and being a virtual sycophant to foreign rulers?

Would Barack Obama’s chances for re-election in 2012 be lessened if the media called proper attention to the scandalous behavior of his administration in such matters as the Solyndra affair and the “Fast and Furious” episode?

Would Barack Obama’s 2012 chances among a major constituency be lessened if the media did not obscure his treatment of our only democratic ally in the Middle East?

The answers to the questions posed are worth contemplating, and, to be sure, there are many others that could be raised. However, the real issue is where the country is heading under Obama.

Barack Obama is conducting a political campaign when he should be governing, and despite occasional rays of sunshine, we are still in severe economic times. No doubt sensing the economic mess the country is in, and how this impacts his chances in 2012, Obama has taken to encouraging class and racial divisions to an extent that may well be unprecedented in our history.
