For those of you who are not aware of the big controversy of the week, a Muslim Mosque close to ground zero, and those of you who are quick to denounce criticism of PresBO, or Congress as whatever adjective comes to mind, will have plenty to bitch about if they read this.
First I’ll give you my position so you’ll know where I’m coming from.
I am of Christian Faith, I am a Christian, I do not turn my head in shame when liberals condemn Christianity, nor do I deny it if asked. I also am a firm believer in freedom of religion. You can be a tree worshipper for all I care, jus t don’t condemn me for not being a tree worshipper.
Having said that, I believe what the so called moderate Imam, who once blamed the US for 9/11, and is now the darling of the State Department, headed to the middle east on taxpayer money to garner funds for the gigantic Mosque a coupla blocks away from Ground Zero, is dead wrong in what he is doing. It may be legal, but its insensitive, to put it mildly.
As one who lost five business colleagues in the terrorist act on September 11, and as one who can relate to the families who lost loved ones, my question is “What moderation are we seeing?” We are seeing an Imam hell bent on building a monument of victory, and anyone who says differently doesn’t have the slightest idea of what’s going on in the Washington.
Well, PresBO has endorsed it, then backed away from the endorsement by a weak statement that he didn’t pass judgment on the wisdom of it. Second time he has injected his government into state and local affairs.
Now, along come those two great leaders of Congress. Senator Harry Reid sort of, is against it. But House Speaker Nan (sic) Pelosi not only believes the Mosque should be built on the site, but she is going to investigate of those who are opposing it. Can you imagine the unmitigated gall of a person like that?!! The sad truth is that she CAN do that. Even more troubling is that she has now sent two signals that if you are against her position, she’s going bring down the wrath of her Congress on your head. (the first was the Tea Party, whose members she condemned as Nazis and Racists.)
The woman is drunk with perceived power. If you project into the future, a few years hence, and if she and her minions are still in power, our freedom of speech is a thing us old folks will be telling our grandchildren that Americans used to have.
That’s the way its going to be if we don’t get off our duffs and get our country back as the Founding Fathers envisioned, and as it was until 2009. Keep that in mind in November.
