David Rush, in brief (Hah!):
Native of Rockingham NC. Attended Mississippi Southern College. Entered US Air Force during Korean War. Served as a “spotter” in Korea.
33 years as a Radio-TV Journalist, the last twenty five with NBC News. Was a member of the White House Press Corps in the Johnson, Carter and Reagan administrations.
When not covering Presidential comings and goings, was put on a financial affairs beat. That included the Finance, Commerce, and Tax writing committees of Congress, and Commerce and Labor Departments.
After leaving the Reagan Administration, was promoted to Senior Business Correspondent and assignments included Wall Street and the
Won 36 awards for reports, documentaries and commentaries, including a Peabody Award for documentaries about the Vietnam War, and a Television Emmy.
Left NBC News in 1987, completed education qualifying me as a financial adviser. In 1988 joined the Financial Planning Corporation on Marco, where I had had a vacation home since 1978. Took over FPC in 1991, retired as an NASD Principal in 2003. During that period I wrote a weekly column about investment and retirement plans.
Currently private citizen with an avocation of observing events of the day.
