A fashion show with DELTA BURKE!!
The Savvy Shopper went to a fashion show/fund raiser today at Wildcat Run with hostess Delta Burke and a bonus surprise...her husband Gerald McRaney was there, too!
She looked very beautiful and was very gracious...not like some of the hoity-toity movie stars. And very witty, too! I throughly enjoyed her speech. She was speaking for Sportsmen Against Cancer. The Naples-Ft. Myers chapter of the Safari Club started Sportsmen Against Cancer four years ago. The program provides wild game meat free of charge to cancer patients who are not able to eat domestic meat because of the hormones given to domestic livestock. The other sponsor was LIGHT (Long-term Impact through the Gift of Hope & Treatment.) They raise funds to assist individuals diagnosed with cancer who need financial assistance for treatment. BOTH very worthwhile causes.
The fashion show was put on by Jennifer's. They carry everything from clothes for women to undergarments, shoes, bags and more. A lot of the models were wearing city shorts paired with matching little jackets or capris with jackets. It seems jackets are "the thing" this season.
There were cheetah print city shorts in gray and black with a gray jacket, a green tennis dress of all cotton that was worn over pants or can be worn alone. Travelers in brown and white print jacket with brown pants or skirt. A really cute yellow strapless top worn with capris. A darling "pretty in pink" top by Lucy B, she only makes tops and they come in all colors. Denim capris paired with a long red top and a big, huge belt. That made a statement! They have a great collection of transitional fall fashions too. All the fashions were casual and fun.
Brand new in Jennifer's are eye-catching Marc Jacobs sunglasses, Little Toe Peeps...step out with the hottest shoes in a variety of colors and textures. Arm Candy...bet you can't choose just one from their great selection of the newest handbags. Sassy mini-readers from Eyebobs.
I spoke with Jennifer Williams, she said they have been in business 24 years. Their summer hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They have something for everyone and are located at 13451-1 McGregor Boulevard in Cypress Square in Fort Myers.
After the fashion show and a delicious lunch, Pamela Cronin of the Shell Factory and Nature Park took off her beautiful necklace of silver and many black pearls and said I would like to donate this. The bidding started at $100 and was very lively...going, going, GONE to the highest bidder for $500... Gerald McRaney for his beautiful wife Delta. She was thrilled!
All in all it was a great afternoon and I was so happy to meet Delta Burke and her husband Gerald McRany. Such wonderful, down-to-earth people to devote their time for such a worthy cause!
