Go Fish!

The Savvy Shopper

Jeanne Vogt

Does that remind you of a card game when you were a kid? Well, now it is a funky clothing and jewelry store in Gulf Coast Town Center. I talked with Debra Vermoch, one of the owners. She told me it has been in business for 20 years. Seventy-five percent of their merchandise comes from third world countries. No factories; no sweat shops. They know each crafter personally, that's quite a feat! Their founder Curt Coleman personally goes overseas to make the purchases for their stores. Every year Curt and all the store owners go overseas and build homes for people in need. They also bring money for medical supplies or whatever else they are in need of. Now that is quite impressive!! Everything is made just for their stores so you will find unique clothes, unusual hand made jewelry, wood carvings, blown glass pieces, hand made soaps and candles made of palm wax, so no smoke and it takes 10 to 12 hours to burn 1"....all wonderful smells...just $2.25.
Some of the clothes are batik style, it is wax stamped and dipped into the dye. The dye only stays where there is no wax so makes for interesting patterns. Some one of a kind.
I found earrings from $5 to $30. The most expensive piece of jewelry was $39. Beaded purses in all colors. Beaded belts $25. Very unusual! The clothes ran from $20 to $85. They are go-anywhere fashions that are easy to wear. I liked the different styles shown...not your typical department store fashions! Also find great little gifts if you need something different for a hostess or birthday gift.
There were two racks in the back of the store at 40% off. Go Fish will do fashion shows and gives a 10% discount to anyone attending.
This is a FUN store to visit so check it out and GO FISH!!
Located in Gulf Coast Town Center at 9902 Gulf Coast Main St. #125
