The Savvy Shopper

LULU'S

Posted November 12, 2007

This week I ventured down to Royal Palm Square to see what was happening ... not much! It used to be a fun, lively place to stroll through with lots of interesting shops and restaurants. Now a lot of places are vacant and the rest are administration offices, insurance offices with just a couple restaurants and shops. But there are still a couple that are worth the trip!

I did find Lulu's that has been there for four years and is packed with lots to look at.

They have a large selection of cards, stationary and invitations. They will print them for you. Cards to insert your photos in were cute. Cleaver note pads: "I'm fairly certain that given a cape and nice tiara, I could save the world!" for $7.

Candles and diffuser sets. Personalized stationary stamps.

Tahitian Gardenia gift set of a soy wax candle, natural body butter, and a bar of natural soap nicely packaged for gift giving. Or Hawaiian Ruby, Guava, or Tuscan Blood Orange all for $27. I saw bath Ice cream....looks like big scoops of ice cream but for your bath, they dissolve, in Drift Away, Lavender or Lullaby. They all sound great for a nice relaxing soak! Take me away!! All kinds of lotions and hand made soaps.

Skeleton Keys...glow in the dark skull caps to put on your keys $6. Now that's a clever idea! A package of six disposable luggage tags that said "Open with caution: Dirty clothes inside!" $12. Travel candles.

Wine Lines, wacky sayings to attach to wine glasses $6.50. Wine tags to attach to a bottle, "I bought you a case but brought you a bottle" or "This celebrations calls for a bottle of the good stuff, I hope someone actually brought the good stuff!"

Cook books, W.I.N.O. Women in Need of Sanity! $21. All entrees have either wine or chocolate. Cook, eat, laugh, wine, wine, wine! This sounds like a book everyone should have!! I have a couple of friends who would love this one!

I also found some pretty, bright pottery serving pieces. This small store has a little bit of everything and things I hadn't seen in other stores. It would be worth a trip for an unusual gift for hostess or Christmas. I am sure you will find something in Lulu's you will like!

She also carries cute things for babies, darling clothes and tiny shoe socks, adorable! A box for baby locks! You couldn't find one of these if your were looking! Now you know! Cute blocks that were black and white, with a letter, a picture and word on each side. Another hard-to-find!

Darling little tea sets. Different toys and games and puzzle for the bigger kids. Any Mom would love to get a book of vouchers for bed making, car washes etc. How about magnetic paper dolls? Or game boxes, there was one for a birthday box, a picnic box or a tea party box, for 3 and up. For the boys on your list, turn the wheel and learn about 100 facts on insects!

Lulu's is a fun little store....for the unusual little finds. Enjoy!
