The Savvy Shopper

Take a little trip to Sweden ... A Swedish Affair!

Posted November 28, 2007

You do feel like you are in Sweden when entering this little shop that is loaded with all kinds of interesting things that you won't find anywhere else unless you take the big trip across the pond!

It has been here since 1984, that's quite a long time, so someone is finding it tucked away in Royal Palm Square. It features the finest in Scandinavian handicraft.

In here you will find Swedish candle rings "Toarpskrona", beautiful glass in all colors on one wall, plates, vases and bowls. Very interesting interlocking salad servers. Engraved serving pieces, cheese slicers, cake servers, carving sets, and napkin rings. Carl Larsson place mats $5.95, serving trays and glass from Sweden by Orrefors. A pretty lotus votive holder for $25. Dansk dishes and serving pieces. Also Royal Copenhagen plates.

Art glass necklaces $48.,bracelets $40. There were a lot of small items for a hostess gift like the hand made butter spreaders, $4.95. Dishwashing sponges with cute pictures on them, and Scandinavian hand held fans. Metal "Bobeches" in all colors, they keep your candles from dripping.

There were things for the holidays, straw ornaments, lighted nativity sets all intricately carved of wood and Christmas scenes, $59.-155. Swedish Christmas cards by Carl Larsson, $6.95 a box. Finnish post cards only 95 cents, 3-D cards for $6.95 that were absolutely darling! Funny greetings by Avanti. And of course Swedish Advent Calendars. Santas.

Also found colorful motion clocks, scramble square puzzles, wind up toys and games. Painted tile trivets, cutting boards, Swedish hats and tees.

Lucia figures, set of three, $29.95, small is $12.95. Lucia is the child of light.

I liked the section way in the back where you will find a small cooler stuffed to the brim with such delicacies as caviar, salmon and crab pate, goat cheese and all kinds of imported cheeses. Swedish mustard, grog mix, spices, red cabbage and beets. Cookies, breads and crackers. Perfect for holiday entertaining!!
