The Savvy Shopper

All kinds of neat stuff at The Fussy Female

Posted February 12, 2008

We all get fussy sometimes. My curiosity got the best of me and I had to find this little shop called The Fussy Female. It is a little hard to find; it is at College Parkway and McGregor Boulevard. It's loaded with all kinds of interesting things. Tricia Harrison said they have been in business for 12 years. She gave me a first-class tour of the store. There were Tropi sandals and Woodie sandals, the latter having hand-painted soles for $29.99; really cute, but you kinda hate to cover up those pretty soles! How about a pair of Switch Flops? The tops are Velcro and you can take them off and change the colors. Flips, $29.99; tops, $9.99. I have never seen those anywhere.

There were jeweled card holders, and beautiful jeweled perfume bottles, $32.99. Glass wine toppers, $6.99-$11.99. Hand-painted tiles, $15-$36.

Tricia carries the Butler Bag recommended by Oprah. It has all these little compartments to organize your purse. Brilliant idea! She also carries the Mary Frances purses that I love so much ... individually handmade from $76 to $280. Know what to do with your purse when you go to a restaurant? Problem solved ... she carries purse hooks for $9.99; you just hook them onto the table and put your purse on the hook.

There were some unusual things like the self-balancing, hand- painted dragonfly, $3.99. Cell phone charms, $2.50; sun and surf luggage tags, $5.99, dog charms and pet tags.

Jewelry ... there was caboodles of it!! If you are really fussy ... I am sure you could find something you would like here! I loved the Ocean Waters Collection--it looks as soft as the sea. It's designed by a local artist, Fontera, and inspired by beauty. She creates the line by using aqua quartz to signify the ocean waters and other natural elements to make it a true keepsake! Another great line was Chamilia--it is sterling silver; you pick out a bracelet, then pick out the beads you want on it. So you can design your own in any color combination you like. Earresistibles by Bharqavi are made of Swarovski crystals, earrings and dainty ankle bracelets. Emily Ray has earrings called Hoopla. You buy the earring and change the crystals ... each crystal is $12.50. There were some really different designers here. I also liked the silver turtle pin/pendant for $19.99 and earrings to match, $9.99. There were shells and starfish in that collection. She had some wild things ... zebra, leopard or animal print pendants at $19.99. Lots and lots to look at!
