Summer time ... and the livin' is easy

Posted May 12, 2008

At Pottery Barn! They have a whole new inventory for summer and I wouldn't know just what to pick as I liked everything I saw!! Everything from beach basics to furniture. And it is all about color.

The umbrella collection comes in all sizes from round, square to rectangular and in seven solid colors, two prints and one stripe. Even a faux raffia umbrella, so tropical!

Get ready for the perfect summer setting. I loved the bold, tropical leaf design dinnerware in apple green. Great for relaxed summer meals. It is lightweight melamine and comes in many pieces including unbreakable glasses in two sizes.

That's a hot color for summer, you will find it throughout the store.

To light up the evening there are there are brightly striped paper lanterns to set a festive tone, set of ten $39. Also find a huge selection of outdoor pillows in bright colors, prints and stripes, $25-32. Add some safari style to your outdoor space with the zebra beach collection ... towel $29, pillow $32 and a zebra synthetic rug, the 5x7 was $199. It all fits in with the green glass collection of bottles, jugs and votives that are hand blown of recycled green glass. The medium jug is $29, large $49 and tea light holders $19.

There are all kinds of colored glass lanterns to light up your night as well as a complete collection of outdoor lighting from candles to sconces and chandeliers.

Ready for a luau? My friend Ginger is, she needs to shop here! The woven chargers and baskets are made of the same grass used for hula skirts, fringed and studded with green ceramic leaves. Complete the table with coconut drinking cups, 4/$16.

Ever thought of outdoor drapes? I have them and love them. Pottery Barn carries the sheer drapes, grommet drapes or awning stripe drape with the outdoor rod and rings. A simple way to bring privacy to your outdoor spaces.

Besides apple green you will find a lot of red, white and blue like the koi fish rug in red and white with a blue border, 5x8 $349. Black and white makes a bold statement featured in rugs, lamps, pictures, bedding and accessories.

I found the hand blown soda-lime glass very interesting, plates with a fish, leaf or lobster on them $19. I loved the lizard napkin rings at $6.50 each. Adorable!

Of course they have their stand by of all the clear glass vases,in all sizes from small to huge to display a collection of fruits, artichokes, shells or whatever. And candles and holders to suit any table.

I love shopping in Pottery Barn, it is one of my favorites. I only hope they will build one closer to us.
