The Savvy Shopper

Take a trip to East Indies!

Posted May 26, 2008

This is a fascinating store to browse. There are so many beautiful imported things to see. There are great items for outdoors in resin and wicker, a cozy cocoon lounge with a canopy for $1,560. Very unusual. Built for two, a double lounger, a chaise that has a canopy, $1,640 and a European lounger at $440. All of these pieces would make a statement on your lanai!

There are many beautiful pillows in all colors, and amazing lights made of wood and leather, very contemporary, all different shapes. I have never seen any like these. It's worth the trip just to see the lighting!

I spoke with Jane, she said the hot colors for this season are orange and apple green. I guess I am keeping up with the trends as those are the colors I am using to accent with in my home.

There is quite a selection of hand-carved teak pieces. They are sustainably harvested, plantation raised, not taken from the forests. The bamboo furniture is also Go Green! A lot to choose from made in South East Asia. Unusual pieces made of water hyacinth and some of banana leaves.

Most all the pottery is Chang Mai from North West Thailand. It is from a very high-fired process. Just beautiful! Rich colors and some in neutral shades. I loved those in white with taupe dots on them in three sizes. There is a real range from classic pottery to some with color dripping down the sides.

The decorative print wood boxes were really pretty with three tassels hanging from the top. Speaking of tassels there was a wide range of colors and interesting textures in all sizes.

Also found napkin holders and place mats galore. Candles in many bright colors. Beautiful wood bowls. Herbal soaps in all scents.

The furniture, tables, chairs and sofas can mix with contemporary or classic pieces.

East Indies Home is located at 11985 Tamiami Trail in North Naples.
