THE SAVVY SHOPPER
Times are tough....tighten your belt!
Lend a helping hand!
I went to check out the new Goodwill Store in Springs Plaza last week. I promised myself I will take a couple bags a week to donate as The Savvy Shopper has been shopping way too much!! I have to get these closets cleaned out and what a good cause. When I got there the parking lot was packed, bustling with shoppers in all walks of life. That's a good thing, people are getting much needed clothes and household items at a tiny price.
The store is set up like a department store would be. Large, well lit and well organized. Household items on one side and the clothes in groups for easy shopping on the other. I was surprised to see several rows of shelves with brand new items like flower pots, kitchen utensils, shower curtains, bath mats, kitchen towels, colorful plastic plates, bowls and cups. Pictures and frames, candles, and body lotion.
There are tons of movies, paper back and hard cover books for $1. to $2.
The next group of shelves held used glass ware and accessories all arranged by color with several rows in all colors. There were lots of baskets, greens, small appliances, vacuums, luggage of every description, draperies, towels, blankets, toss pillows and assorted linens. Lots of "stuff" to set up house. Then came the sports department with an array of golf clubs and bags, and tennis rackets.
The bulk of the store held clothing and shoes for the whole family. Each rack was jammed with huge selections and sizes of each item. Racks of shorts were all the same price $3.49. Shirts $3.49, skirts $4. maternity was from $2 - 6. There was even a rack containing lab coats in all kinds of prints and colors, just $4. Nurses were grabbing these up!
You can find just about anything in here, even under garments from $.50 - $3. Night gowns $3. PJ's $4. and robes $5. Jackets, blazers, dresses, slacks, capris and jeans. There were racks of plus sizes too. All the way down to a section for toddlers and kids clothes, shoes and boots. A wide variety of ladies purses that were slightly used were also very inexpensive, starting at $4.
In the men's department short sleeve dress shirts in abundance at $3.49 with the dress slacks and pants just $4. Also found for men shorts, long sleeve shirts, outer wear, and night wear. There is something for everyone here. Some of the clothes still had tags on from the store it was purchased from. Most items are in very good condition.
In the back of the store find furniture from bedroom sets to living room pieces.
You drive around back of the building to donate. You don't even have to get out of your car! They come out and get your bags and give you a receipt. It's that easy and you are helping out a lot of people with your donations.
