Holiday Spirit; its Magic!
The holiday period, from Thanksgiving, Christmas and News Years day are a very special time of year. Each holiday having a unique place in the hearts of those with some religious connection: God!
At Thanksgiving we thank God for our blessings in whatever form those blessings are received. Christmas is a celebration of life and the hope through the birth of Christ. New Year is time for renewing our personal commitment to a loftier pursuit of hope and courage.
Historically, these holidays have brought a profound spirit of euphoria to many that are manifest in their kindness, charity and good will to others. Even those without any religious connection to a faith or tradition seem to find the spirit contagious. We all seem to be more civil, accommodating and charitable to each other. Therein lays the Magic of the Holiday Spirit.
We must not allow a minority, to destroy this special and sacred period. Those who seek to legislate, condemn and remove the religious element from view say it offends them. Well, this minority offends me and the majority even more, with their ludicrous interpretation of the law.
Our founding fathers based our Constitution on a higher authority after escaping from religious persecution of government. Hopefully the court will adjudicate a true and realistic interpretation of our Constitution and allow religion back in to the holidays.
In the meantime the Holiday Spirit is alive and working it’s Magic of treating each other civil and helping those in need. Let us all be an army of helpers; just like the Salvation Army has done for decades.
Let the Holiday Spirit and Magic begin!
