reluctant warrior

Still Walkin' by Jan Curran

After 1 ½ years in Office Barack Obama continues to display little understanding of the currents of geo-political action in which the US is involved. His recent response to the Hamas/Iranian inspired attempt to break the Israeli Gaza sea blockade indicates that he is philosophically more attuned to those who criticize or oppose America and either ignores or supports their concomitant depredations against liberal democracies (re: Honduras). He does not understand the importance of supporting or protecting our liberal democratic allies. In this view, he appears to have a dangerous combination of ignorance and naiveté as a world view vis-à-vis an understanding of the advantages of military power and a will to use it as a deterrent to the adventures of the Chavez’s, Achmadineshads‘s, and Kim Jong Il’s of the world. In the ceaseless battle for protecting and expanding free democracies he is an increasingly reluctant warrior. On the other hand, here in the US he is a “heroic figure” in his class warfare campaign against the wealth producers of the nation. But even in this effort one has the sense that he also does not really understand the dynamics of a free market economy, only the tactics and schemes of those who would confiscate the wealth it produces for whatever purposes he considers would further his vision of ”justice”. I doubt this is the president that many hoped would restore luster to the American star.
