Joplin Tornado and Climate Change - Fact or Fiction?

Truth About Weather, Climate and Climate Change

The recent Joplin Torando has gotten some in the media to start linking extreme weather to climate change again.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Scientists, including a new CSI team at NOAA, suggest otherwise. I've used the deadly Joplin tornado event to help put this erroneous linkage into perspective.

I've also started a dialogue among some science colleagues to help better distinguish between "weather" and "climate." That's because science and geography textbooks and the general public perception of these terms is nebulous, at best.
