Weather For Everyone

The Winter Classic?

Posted October 23, 2007

This morning on Interactive Weather I used a prop that was sent to me by a long time viewer. Over the years I've had many great weather-related things sent to me, things like kites, earmuffs, additional umbrella hats (mine kept suspiciously disappearing on a regular basis), and I've always tried to include them in a weathercast.

This morning it was a Liberace record, ... because it was going to be hot enough to set a record. Get it? The person who sent it asked for anonymity, for obvious reasons, so I will honor his wishes. I will tell you this. It was NOT my buddy Stan from the "Stan and Haney" show on 96 K-Rock. DEFINITELY NOT him. No way.

I was working up a weathercast for the World Series, which will be played in Boston and Denver this year, and it doesn't look like typical baseball weather.

The game time temperatures for the Colorado Rockie's home games should be in the 40's, and if they play a game 5 on Tuesday, the game time temperature could be in the 30s. At least the forecast doesn't call for snow, because it did snow in Denver last weekend.

I'm reminded of one of the great cold weather baseball incidents of all time. It involved legendary announcer Harry Caray and the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs had a young lady named Marla Collins, who was the ball girl.

She was very attractive, and wore a version of a Cubs uniforms, but always wore short pants, perhaps so less discerning fans would not confuse her with Don Zimmer, then the manager of the Cubs.

Well, it was a colder day in September,....so cold that Marla decided to dress warmer. Click here to get the call from Harry. Enjoy!
