Halloween Tales: Halloween weather future and past
Posted October 29, 2007
Halloween is almost here, and make sure you have enough candy. I speak from experience … for the last two years, my wife and I ran out. As the evening grew on, we resorted to other treats in the house, … money …. my wife even offered the last Trick or Treater my tuba.
(Note, that’s not true,…she offered it to the first)
Looks like our Halloween forecast for the trick or treaters will be warm, with the small chance of an evening shower, but if there is a shower, it should pass quickly, so if you wait 10-15 minutes, it should pass.
I think the biggest concern will be the breezy conditions. Might want to secure that witch hat with a safety pin, or maybe some duct tape, as my father might suggest.
Halloween weather is usually not a major concern in Florida, but as a child growing up in Chicago, Halloween was the one day that we would actually be very concerned about the weather forecast. My mother would always be concerned about our safety and well being, which of course were the furthest things from my brother’s and my youthful minds.
When we were small, of course we were easily manipulated. When my brother was 4, my mom actually convinced him that the real Batman actually covered himself in reflective tape when he fought crime at night.
As we grew older, we became much more independent. A few years later, mom insisted my brother bring along a jacket, as it was expected to be chilly. I’m sure that first bush at the end of the driveway appreciated the gesture.
You know, just to help parents out, I’m inventing a new Superhero just for Halloween,… “Flame Retardant Glow-In-The-Darkman.” Might catch on.
