islandeye: Who are "we"? More importantly, what are the "we" defending Marco Island from? I fail to see how a group of parents attempting to establish a place to educate their children can be harmful to Marco Island. Your opinion that varsity sports are an important part of education, fails to account for the 80 percent of our student bodies that do not benefit from this activiity. Every boy in Ameica does not have the opportunity to become an NFL star, that's reserved for the gifted. What promises do varsity sports offer our young women? Equal pay? Although women's basketball is popular, none of their talent has any hope of earning the salaries the NBA offers. Why not give the 80 percent a chance to use their time to gain an education and excell at life. Public education has been exposed as a failing money pit. Give the Academy a chance, it may prove to be an effective avenue to success for our children. Our children deserve a chance. Help give our hometown it's own school. This is a good story and your negativity is starting to sound redundent. Is there nothing you would champion?
