Right now it's too easy to pass a budget as our government can do as it pleases with our money.

Previous City Councils have betrayed our trust by racking up crushing debt for us and it looks like the current council is intending to follow suit. Our aloof councilpersons evidently cannot be trusted with our money.

By taking back the power of the purse strings by insisting that the taxpayers approve the City budget and thereby making it hard to spend our money, we would be blessed with major saving that would pay us dividends every year into the future. Our collective wisdom might even get us out of debt eventually.
