How would the fire chief operate such a boat when he could NOT cross a shell driveway? This city is just becoming a laughing stock and the citizens are being stuck with the bill!
Not only not cross it, but he complained of some areas in the estates area as having too steep an incline, which would pose a hazard to his men and equipment if they were laid with shell or gravel.
Note: there is a slope specification (not to exceed) in the current code regarding shell and gravel driveways. I originally thought it was for erosion concerns, but then I realized that shell is used as a material for erosion control and stabilization in professional land restoration journals.
It was again a revelation that Mr. Murphy was short on rational thinking when he presented his professional input as it applied to steep driveways in the estates area. It became so clear that this city needs a competent fire chief, now"
But for some reason city management is in love with him, as well as his men. It must be the coffee and union benefits and non-hazardous working conditions.
I know I should be more "politically" correct/sensitive in my assessments, but I am having trouble going along to get along when these statements are not challenged by council or planning board members when originally presented. Or maybe I am just too sensitive.
Which I thought I was, until I spoke with Isle of Capri personnel and requested there "professional" opinion on such scenarios as posing a threat.
They all looked at me as if I was nuts to even consider that as a hazard.
But then again, maybe I am nuts to believe we can make a difference.
