Can Joe Granda just go away. Last year he was Jose Granda, telling the Eagle that the citizens of Marco do not pay enough in taxes. Then at the Code Board he is Joe Granda patting himself on the back for the code violations he and fellow board members levied, only to find out that the fines go to Collier County. Remember this guy when he runs for council. It was his idea to separate the police and fire from the city budget and give them a special accessment.
He won't go away, but your review is excellent. And like so many appointed officials, they mimic the Councillor who appointed them.
But, please tell me he is NOT considering running for council. We cannot even have our present Councillors (except Mr. Trotter) vote no to deny funding for what ever special interest is presented before council, i.e. fireworks, Arts request for trophy money, etc.
When will elected officials focus on the basic needs of a city rather than dabble in every special interest created through city sponsored committees.
Well folks, if you like Boener then may I suggest you empty your wallets and transfer it to a government sponsored interest that may one day knock on your door to demand you now replace your shell swale with an environmentally selected "organic" replacement.
We need true representatives that are focused on basic city services. As recent as the last council meeting, Mr. Pinter said he was short staffed when responding to a citizen challenge to the use of filter socks in storm drains. Oh yeah, I forgot, it must be the gravel/shell being carried away from swales.
So a city Public Works Director is complaining of lack of manpower for maintenance, yet we need to expand services and funding for the frills and thrills of stuff for the benefit of every resident and visitor.
So let's light up the sky on the 4th of July under the new public/private partnership lexicon!!!! And for the 600+ folks with gravel swales, pay up, the city is coming again. Last time it was to condemn your septic system, tomorrow to condemn the city owned swale in front of your property. Except, this is a revised public/private partnership, in which the public sector demands the private property owner pay for modifying public property. Imagine that!
Talk about getting screwed! America the beautiful has a new meaning on Marco Island, it now means no shell allowed and you will pay for its removal from public lands!!!!!!!
