A couple areas that needs clarification; this plan does not save anyone any money, services are not currently dublicated like the police department -we will have to pay the county for each inspection. In this plan we lose staff that regulate illegal work being done by both licensed and unlicensed contractors. Lastly the building department is the only city department that use no funds from everyone's tax roll to operate, it sounds as they have accually have had a large amount of building departments funds stolen (i would like to see the details on how this happen) by the use of some creative accounting and politics.
From my personal experience with the city and county the city inspectors are much more knowledge and helpful, permits fees are much lower with city and process to get a permit is much more efficient..... Why change something that works so well?
