From Mr. Magel:

"Obviously the people have spoken, I am going to see what other ideas I can come up with to provide comprehensive health care (on the island)."

I guess Mr. Magel feels it is imperative to offer comprehensive health care on this island.... but the recent construction of a hospital and emergency care facility was built on Collier Blvd in East Naples, NOT on Marco Island.

Why? I suspect, it may be due to the fact that the current and future growth will be along Collier Blvd in East Naples, again NOT on Marco Island.

I hope this is NOT another city ala Mr. Magel grandiose vision that will foster a STRP type debacle. Where the folks are told it is imperative to the "health" of the city!

Note: if we review the history of sustaining a 24hr emergency care facility on Marco Island over the past two decades, I believe we can conclude, it is not financially sustainable given the population of this community.

How about, we look at problems that are currently of concern, like seawalls, ROW, mixed zoning issues and debt!

If you look at the financial downfall of some major cities into bankruptcy, there is a common theme: large scale infrastructure projects, along with police/fire operational and pension costs all under the weight of debt financing.

Recommendation: We do not need new ideas for healthcare on Marco Island, we need to focus on existing infrastructure and services...not expanded facilities or more services.

Excellent!!! You said it all!!! Thank You!!!
