It is tough a circumstance for anyone in local politics. We all need to appreciate the efforts of those we have elected to stand front center and appreciate running and sit for doing so.
Marco Island is a place that has a tremendous amount of diversity. I know that as much as I do having been lucky enough to grow up there from kindergarten. It has changed from county elective to a city we now see it.
The county of Collier has put a lot of what the islanders use today on that island, Mackle Park, Tommie Barfield Elementary, Tiger Tail Beach, and many etc's...
That has been given to the citizens of the City of Marco Island to use and benefit and resource from.
However, I do not see any effort of the Islanders past, present and future as city council using in the best concert.
The fact is Marco is a resort community, it is what the island was framed on and works in the interest of that "goal" and "Plan" that you see today. It is unfortunate that there is and always will be a divide that thinks they can change it. council members running or sitting cannot be "Anti" the plan or infrastructure of which, put "Pro"what the island was designed to do. Be "Pro" what works and or how the island has been designed. That is the efficent way council needs to run the City of Marco.
It is a shame it ever became a city, and of its inefficiency. There has been enough time to get it right.
Marco should know how lucky as a city to have brought in Hunter as Chief. "Gold Star" on that. Lets hope a city of Marco can bring in more what works from within the County it sits.
