I mean it was not just an election. It was a political tsunami on Marco Island. All three old councilors were political eliminated by the people. But in my political opinion that was not very difficult. The only qualification 4 years ago was: Pro sewer = IN! Against sewer = OUT!
The candidates supported by CARES had the better qualifications. Visions, ideas, responsibility, education! But by the massive common campaign of the syndicate, condo dwellers and Chamber they loss. Unfortunately
the high qualified candidates Hall and Neylon quit for ever. Batte won 2 years ago. The best of all Chuck Kiester was re-elected. That was a first signal, that Marco Islander want a change.
They want independent citizen not managed on the strings of a puppeteer. They want not members of the good old boys fraction average age 81 knowing what is good for me or you! And they really do not want they below average comments of the nonofficial speaker by the grace of godfather John Eddi Issler anymore.
So it is no surprise that Eddi started immediately his resurrection crusade against the new and fine men in City Council. Of course in the best style of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov better known as Lenin:

"In fact, if you research the numbers in detail, you would find that over 500 voters did not even vote for City Council due to the fact that the names were on the back of the Ballot.
Yes, I agree, stupid."

Spread rumors. Change the facts. Make insecure comments to the citizen Eddi Issler propaganda:

"We can only hope that all of our City Council votes for the betterment of ALL Islanders, I repeat, ALL Islanders, rather than special interests."

Rather than special interest. Marco Island was trapped since the day getting city-hood in the claws of "Special Interest" ad their benefiter! However the big majority of Marco Island citizens was tired of this old men club just legends in their own mind of a foggy yesterday qualification to celebrate their top disability specially at Christmas time over and over again.
Final in 2012 Marco Island survived the debaucher! The men with the photos, the dishonorable turncoat and the yelper
with no skills, responsibility and visions. And on top King Moss!

Hopefully the OldMarcoMan is not right:

"They just reformed what they call themselves, the power stream is still intact on Marco and it still starts in the same dank pond it always did!"

The dark side of Marco Island loss a lot of power and influence. And that is good so.
