Great Sheriff Hunter if that happened. But WHY is your name never mention on this story:
"The Marco Island Police Department’s proposed fiscal 2014 budget includes a request for $250,200 to buy six new patrol vehicles.
The proposed purchase is part of the department’s $298,200 capital expenditures request for the coming year.
The city is in the process of drawing up a spending plan before Oct. 1, the start of the new fiscal year.
The Marco Island City Council budget subcommittee — councilmen Amadeo Petricca, Larry Honig and Ken Honecker — is reviewing departmental budget requests before passing its recommendations on to council.
“This is a work in progress,” said Assistant Chief Dave Baer. “Nothing is written in stone.”
Baer said the department hopes the city can enhance its long-range planning with the vehicle request.
“What we want to try to do is to create a consistent vehicle replacement plan that gives the city a way to plan across the future consistently, as opposed to spiking,” said Baer.
The department received four new patrol vehicles during the current fiscal year, at a cost of $136,700.
“We hope to have a five-year replacement program,” Baer said. “But when you don’t have a consistent plan, then you start spiking (fluctuating) the numbers.”
Baer said not having a program of regular replacement comes with a cost."
