If you chose Marco Island/Naples to live out the second half of your life, then AARP says great choice!

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jul/17/editorial-rain-marco/?partner=RSS</link><description>Rain, rain, go away. And it finally did! The sun peeked out of the clouds Wednesday evening after several days of what seemed like non-stop rain. Local weather forecasters estimate that 12 inches of rain fell on Marco, and six to eight inches was just on Wednesday!

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jul/11/editorial-whom-bridge-tolls/?partner=RSS</link><description>On a recent weekend, a friend and I decided to take a nice Sunday drive to Sanibel and Captiva Island. I hear their names quite frequently on the news, but having moved here just over a year ago, this was my first opportunity for a visit.

However, if someone cuts you off in traffic, there’s a good chance you might do just that.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/may/01/editorial-time-after-time/?partner=RSS</link><description>I’m no good at goodbyes. While it’s partly because my well-disguised social awkwardness tends to creep out at times like these, it is also for another reason. I believe that, no matter what, in some capacity, and somewhere down the line, we’ll see each other again. This is no different.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/apr/17/editorial-human-rights-are-not-worth-fight/?partner=RSS</link><description>Watching a video of Buddhist monks –– who are most often associated with peaceful ways of living – involved in a violent riot is to me a great irony as well as an obvious record of the tragedy of current human values. It saddens me deeply at the same time it awakens me from my lingering — although involuntary — indifference towards world happenings.

A mother had submitted a photo of her young son getting ready to go into the pool. He had two buck teeth, a little fro and was completely decked out from head to toe in colorful swimming gear.

It has four legs and tail – a dog! My kids and I visited the Naples Humane Society in Naples on Saturday – just to look – and found a wonderful little pooch! It’s still in the works, but hopefully by this Saturday, she’ll be coming home with us.

So it’s with some amazement that I find myself in the year 2008, working in the business and invited to the groundbreaking of a multi-million dollar facility that will house our new presses.

Isaac Asimov, who many suspect was paraphrasing Greek philosopher Heraclitus, said that its life’s only constant. Roman poet Ovid produced a classic thematic handling of the subject called “Metamorphoses.”

We believe voters’ intent was for a little less development and a little more space around there.
