Before the internship was over, I asked for an extension of my time. I stayed with the ambition and hopes of staying as a staff writer. Before the extended internship was over, I was hired as staff writer.</p> <p>Prior to covering transportation, traffic and breaking news, my beat included Immokalee, Golden Gate, Golden Gate Estates, higher education, including <a href="http://www.hodges.edu/">Hodges University</a> and <a href="http://www.edison.edu/">Edison State College</a>, police and K-12 education.
