Can't forget

Editor, Naples Daily News:

What a night to remember! Approximately 300 museum supporters and local citizens alike were feted with a delightful evening of wine tasting, from Southern Wine & Spirits, coupled with delicious hors d'oeuvres prepared by our local Fresh Market chefs at the recent Fresh Market Wine Gala.

Kudos to the organizers and thank you to Fresh Market for helping support our local museum.

With this joint effort and proceeds of over $6,000 benefiting the Collier County Museum, it was definitely a win-win for everyone! If you missed this premiere event, don't worry. We've been told it was so successful they will hold it again next fall. See you then.

In our honor

Editor, Naples Daily News:

The first annual CAN (Cancer Alliance of Naples) Beach Bash was a huge success. Bosom Buddies would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers who did so much to make this event possible.

Survivors were made to feel "special," which of course they are. It was a very happy and emotional feeling to hear the applause in our honor. The releasing of the butterflies was a wonderful symbol and perfect ending to a great day.

Alive and well

Editor, Naples Daily News:

Naples residents and visitors are very fortunate to have an in-depth newspaper like the Naples Daily News.

Having lived in six different states and being interested in the written word, my 30 years in annual residence here has helped to keep my old age cells alive and well.

Jeff Lytle, with his columns and TV, have helped to keep me informed, and I'm grateful.

Behind the scenes

Editor, Naples Daily News:

The advanced placement chemistry class at Naples High School would like to give a big "thank you" to Naples Community Hospital. On Oct. 16, our class took a field trip to NCH to see the nuclear medicine department, blood lab, pa thology lab and cytology lab.

When we arrived, we were welcomed by a friendly NCH staff which generously provided us with lunch before showing us the different areas of the hospital.

In the radiology department, we learned about the uses of different radioactive isotopes as tracers. Our trip was a great supplement to our nuclear chemistry chapter that we recently completed in the classroom. In the hospital's blood lab, we were able to see all the work that is done to separate, store and analyze blood.

We would like to thank everyone who gave up their precious time to give our class an experience we will never forget.

Everybody learned a lot from the field trip, and some are now considering a career in the medical field.

Flying high

Editor, Naples Daily News:

The Naples Chapter 1067 of the Experimental Aircraft Association would like to thank everyone who helped with making the recent tour stop of the EAA Foundation's World War II B-17 "Aluminum Overcast" a wonderful success.

The staff at the Naples Municipal Airport, the able Flying Fortress crew members, the visiting public, our volunteer members and especially those visitors, veterans and their families whose memories and stories helped all who were honored and humbled to hear them appreciate even more what the "boys" who crewed these machines six decades ago experienced.

The local chapter hopes to be included in the tour schedule again in 2004!
