ECHL: Everblades lose Tuesday game in OT

The Florida Everblades opened their first ever West Coast trip in thrilling fashion Tuesday night, beating the Las Vegas Wranglers 5-4 in overtime at the Orleans Arena.

Florida forward Reggie Berg notched the game-winning goal in overtime to give Florida the victory. Berg intercepted a Wranglers pass and ripped a shot over the shoulder of Las Vegas netminder and former Everblade Marc Magliarditi to seal the deal for the Everblades (5-1-2).

The Everblades got on the board first on the power play and scored the first two goals of the game at 6:46 and 8:07 of the first period to take a 2-0 lead. Defensemen Paul Esdale and Matt Pagnutti both fired identical point shots on net that found their way through the legs of Magliarditi.

The Wranglers (6-2-1) then came back and made it 2-1 on a power-play goal from forward Doug Wright that beat Florida goalie Rob Zepp. Vegas then notched another goal with 14 seconds left in the period off the stick of Chris Kenady to tie the game at 2-2.

In the second period, the Wranglers jumped out to a 3-2 lead on a power-play goal from forward Nathan Horne at the 11:38 mark.

The Everblades came back late in the period after Esdale found rookie forward Chad LaRose with a beautiful back door pass at the 17:15 mark. LaRose one timed the pass into the back of a wide open net to tie the game at 3-3.

In the third period, Florida took a 4-3 lead on the power play off the stick of forward Keith Anderson, the Everblades' fourth power-play goal of the night.

The Wranglers' Jason McBain then tied the game with just 19 seconds to go in regulation, beating Zepp with a soft shot to send it into OT.

Florida goaltender Rob Zepp (2-0-2) stopped 43 of 47 shots he faced while Las Vegas netminder Marc Magliarditi (6-1-0) stopped 34 of 39 shots he faced. The Everblades were 4-for-8 on the power play while the Wranglers were 2-for-7.
