Veterans Day remembrance slated on Marco

Marco Island's annual Veterans Day remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Marco Island Cemetery.

Gene Ostrom, commander of Marco Island VFW Post 6370, will give the address. The post color guard and members of the local Boy Scouts will present the flag.

The Rev. Clayton Watson of Marco Church of God will give the dedication. The Marco Lutheran Church choir will sing patriotic songs and lead in the national anthem. Greg Greusel, church choir director, will play "Taps." Also, members of the Civil Air Patrol are expected to do a flyover.

Members of the VFW post, and those who would like to volunteer, will put flags out on the city's medians on Nov. 11. Those interested in helping can meet at McDonald's at 6:45 a.m. The flags will be picked up on Wednesday, Nov. 12, with everyone meeting at McDonald's at 9:45 a.m. To volunteer, call Jim Lang, VFW post trustee, at 389-1101.
