Soccer: Community loses district title game

The Community School boys soccer team fell short in defending its District 8 title Friday, losing to Canterbury 4-2.

On Tuesday, the Seahawks (7-5-1) will visit the winner of the District 7 title game between St. Stephens and Bradenton Christian.

Kurtis Johnson and Eric Poutle scored Community School's goals, while Casey Berry and Frank DeSalvo each notched assists. Coach Thomas Kloss also applauded goalkeeper Jesse Greenberg's performance.

"I've never seen him as strong as he was tonight," he said. "Congratulations to Canterbury, because they earned the district title. I'm absolutely proud of our team. With only 11 players available, it was outstanding how they played very successfully."
