I&E Homes sells part of TownLakes to national home builder

I&E Homes of Lehigh Acres has sold 54 homesites in Phases 1 and 2 of TownLakes, a gated community off Williams Avenue in Lehigh Acres, to KB Home, a national home builder that had $5.03 billion in revenue in 2002.

The $2 million deal with the Los Angeles-based KB Home was for the remaining vacant homesites in the first two of four phases at TownLakes.

"It's a good deal for everyone involved," said Heinz S. Pfuner, vice president of I&E Homes. "It gives KB Home the opportunity to move into Southwest Florida, and it's also good for Lehigh Acres because TownLakes will be completed sooner."

Pfuner expects KB Home to finish its home building within two years.

I&E Homes will continue building homes in Phase 1 and 2 that it has already sold to its customers. The company also will continue to develop the infrastructure for all of the remaining vacant homesites in the community.

Additionally, I&E Homes is retaining ownership and will complete the construction of TownLakes MainStreet, a 21-acre town center adjacent to TownLakes.

MainStreet will include specialty shops, gourmet food shops, bistros, a fitness center, a wellness center with spa and massage services, commercial office space and a bed and breakfast. It will be open to the public.

MainStreet also will have an 18-hole miniature golf course, a tennis center with clubhouse, a mini-storage facility and a family activity center. The golf course and tennis center are expected to open by December.

I&E Homes builds single-family homes in Lee County ranging from 2,402 to 3,187 total square feet, and are priced from the mid-$100s to $300,000.
