Collier County sheriff's investigators said Monday that the body of a man found Saturday near Cronin's Porch & Patio at 12828 U.S. 41 North was that of Russell Zenk of 773 Mainsail Place, East Naples.
The cause and manner of death are under investigation, pending autopsy results from the Medical Examiner's Office, said Sheri Mausen, a sheriff's spokeswoman.
Judy Cronin, owner of Cronin's Porch & Patio, said the man was lying on the ground next to the trash bin about 6:30 a.m. when another business owner found the body.
"It had blood like he had been stabbed," she said. "We wondered if the guy had been murdered. We don't know if he was stabbed and killed or if it was a drug deal gone bad.
"It's unnerving not knowing what happened," Cronin added.
Cronin said there was a new-looking blue bicycle on the ground next to the man, who had a cell phone clipped to his belt.
She also said that when deputies rolled the man over, there did not appear to be any weapons, though "there was blood all over his legs and body."
Mausen said the man was not stabbed and that there was no indication of foul play. The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
