Naples Music Makers Big Show Band will play a buffet-dinner dance today, Nov. 14, at the Naples Elks Club, 3950 Radio Road. The event is open to the public; doors open at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. The band features original scores from famous Big Bands, including Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. Tickets are $25. Native Roots, an Albuquerque-based band that fuses Native American and reggae music, will perform today through Sunday, Nov. 14, 15 and 16, as part of the American Indian Arts Celebration at the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, located midway between Fort Lauderdale and Naples off Interstate 75. Performers include Paul Buster and Cow Bone Country Western Band. Native Roots takes the stage from noon to 3 p.m. today, from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Free public foreign film series continues at 2 p.m. today and Saturday, Nov. 14 and 15, at Headquarters Library, 2385 Orange Blossom Drive, with a film from Denmark, "Babette's Feast." A Chinese film set against decades of political turmoil, "To Live," can be seen Dec. 10 at Headquarters Library and Dec. 12 and 13 at the Naples Library. Fabulous Florida Day, hosted by the Conservancy of Southwest Florida's Naples Nature Center at 1450 Merrihue Drive, will feature a book signing and slide presentation with writer Pete Carmichael and photographer Tim Ohr, who authorized "Florida's Fabulous Places," at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15. "Naples Airport -- Celebrating Aviation Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Naples Municipal Airport. The event will celebrate the 100th year of powered flight, the 60th year of the Naples Airport and the commitment of service to Naples residents from aviation-related groups and 50-plus businesses at the airport. Teddy Bear Museum of Naples presents "An Audience with T.R". with Ted Zalewski in the role of President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, at 4 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15. To the strains of "Hail to the Chief," T.R. will transport audiences back in time to the Oval Office. The show is appropriate for children ages 13 and up. Show of Wheels, featuring 200-plus classic cars, hot rods, motorcycles, etc., can be seen from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology, 3702 Estey Ave. off Airport-Pulling Road N. Free bus transportation will be available between this show and the Naples Airport Aviation Day celebration. Children's activities such as face painting and a bounce tent will be available. Southwest Florida's first Yard & Garden Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the University of Florida-Collier County Extension, 10 miles east of Interstate 75, exit 111. Chocolate Dipped Kids, a new cooking class to teach children ages 6 to 12 how to artfully decorate desserts with award-winning pastry chef Frederick Monti at the Ritz-Carlton, Naples, will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 16 and Dec. 21. Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church will open its 2003-04 concert series at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, with a festival of favorite hymns sung by the church choir, under the direction of John Fenstermaker, and the audience.
