Wilson withdraws from Bonita's mayoral race

Jeffrey Wilson, a longtime Bonita Springs resident, announced Monday he has opted against running for mayor of Bonita Springs because his wife is taking a job in Georgia and they plan to move soon.

Wilson, a 36-year-old stay-at-home-dad, had been in the nonpartisan race for less than a week. Current mayor, Paul Pass, has announced he won't seek re-election to another four-year term during the March 9 election. He is the city's first mayor.

The two remaining mayoral hopefuls are City Councilman Jay Arend and financial adviser Alberto Bailleres.
