Chico's Assistant Manager Audrey Borkowski helps customer Terri
Bischoff of Naples pick out an outfit Thursday at Chico's store on
Fifth Avenue South. The chain, based in Fort Myers, celebrated 20
years in business Thursday. Chico's opened in 1983 on Sanibel
Island, where founders Marvin and Helene Gralnick sold Mexican folk
art and cotton sweaters from a small store. The company, now with
543 stores, reported record revenue of $531 million last year.
Chico's, which currently is busy with the acquisition of the White
House/Black Market chain and the introduction of a lingerie line,
plans to issue its report on third-quarter earnings in less than
two weeks.
