Four boys basketball teams continue play tonight as tuneups for their regular-season openers.
Such Classic games do not count on the teams' overall records.
Lely staved off Community School, 60-55, and Naples defeated Sebring, 60-51.
Tonight at 6, Lely plays Sebring. Naples faces Community School at 7:30.
The Trojans of coach Don Stewart had three players in double figures, led by Danny Fogel's 17 points. Ryan Hornsby and Devin Dolan chipped in with 14 and 13, respectively.
"We won the game but I think Community School probably outplayed us," Stewart said. "We kind of took them for granted, but I give Community School a lot of credit, too."
The game's high scorer was Community School's Jesse Greenberg with 21 points. Casey Berry added 17. Greenberg grabbed 11 rebounds and Nils Grimm 10 for the Seahawks of coach Bill Carufe.
"I was very pleased with our effort against a quality opponent such as Lely," Carufe said. "Our defense and rebounding in the second and third quarters was outstanding. I felt we had some defensive breakdowns in the fourth quarter due to fatigue."
Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles were down 30-24 at the half, but turned up the defensive pressure in the third quarter, coach Matt Chlebek said.
"We really got after it on defense in the third quarter and outscored Sebring 23-11," he said.
"Zach Johnson got every rebound for us, came up with every defensive rebound and got our breaks started. He fed Garrett Hull for a few dunks."
Hull scored 24 points. Johnson pulled down 14 boards and Mark Wise added 13 points.
