Christmie Racine, 7, moves boxes of mashed potatoes past bags
packed with food in the Salvation Army warehouse on U.S. 41 East in
Naples Tuesday afternoon. Christmie is one of a group of kids in
the Salvation Army's after-school program, as well as daily
volunteers, who have packed 1,600 bags of food in preparation for
Christmas. Maj. Carmen Damon with the Salvation Army says they also
will give away 300 bags of food prepared for Thanksgiving to
registered families. The after-school program includes 45 kids,
many of whom receive bags of food. Damon says they have the kids
help with the project so they learn the importance of giving, in
addition to receiving.
