Domestic violence arrest

-- Roger E. Stanley, 51, of 1304 Riverhead Ave., Marco Island, was arrested Nov. 20 at his home after a woman told police that he grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground. Stanley was charged with domestic battery and was taken to the Collier County jail in Naples.

DUI arrests-- Gary Phillip Shallbetter, 43, of 1162 Steeves Ave., Naples, was arrested Nov. 21 at 1260 N. Collier Blvd. after police received a report that a reckless driver had struck several mailboxes. Because Shallbetter possibly had been injured in the incident, police did not give him a roadside sobriety test. Shallbetter was taken to Naples Community Hospital and then to the county jail. He also was charged with property damage.

-- Pierce Francis Capell, 29, of 148 San Salvador St., Isles of Capri, was arrested Nov. 24 in the 600 block of South Collier Boulevard after police observed a vehicle unable to stay in a single lane. Capell failed a roadside sobriety test and was taken to the county jail. He also was charged with driving with a suspended license.

-- Henry F. Newman, 46, of 156 Landmark St., Marco Island, was arrested Nov. 20 in the Winn-Dixie parking lot at 625 N. Collier Blvd. after police were called to respond to a possibly impaired driver.

Newman failed a roadside sobriety test. Police also found a prescription medication in his possession, reports say. The medication was not in a prescription container. Newman was taken to the county jail.

He also was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

-- Jose Luis Martinez, 25, of 264 Woodpecker Drive, Naples, was arrested Nov. 20 in the 800 block of North Barfield Drive after police observed a vehicle unable to stay in a single lane. Martinez failed a roadside sobriety test.

He also was charged with driving without a valid license.

-- Eric John Urman, 22, of Mounds View, Minn., was arrested Nov. 21 at the intersection of East Elkcam Circle and Bald Eagle Drive after police stopped a vehicle traveling without headlights on. Urman failed a roadside sobriety test.

Possession of narcotic equipmentJeff Richard Boynton, 25, of New Brighton, Minn., was arrested Nov. 21 at the intersection of East Elkcam Circle and Bald Eagle Drive. He was a passenger in a car driven by Eric John Urman, 22, of Mounds View, Minn. Urman was charged with DUI. Reports say Boynton was too intoxicated to care for himself and was placed in protective custody at the county jail. Police found a silver pipe containing suspected marijuana residue in his possession, reports say.

Resisting arrestRobert Charles Leonia, 26, of 835 W. Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, was arrested Nov. 23 at his home while police investigated a hit-and-run accident. While interviewing Leonia, police noticed that he appeared intoxicated and gave three different names for people he said were driving the vehicle in question.
