Junket for the Football Junkie: Ricky at home in Lone Star State

IRVING, Texas -- Ricky Williams surpassing milestones in Texas has become as common as 10-gallon hats.

In Thursday's 40-21 victory over the Cowboys, the Dolphins running back picked up right were he left off in Lone Star state.

With his 103 yards rushing -- which gives him 1,012 yards on the season -- Williams achieved several milestones.

It's the fourth-straight year and the second time in as many seasons with the Dolphins that Williams has reached the feat.

He becomes just the second Dolphin to record more than one 1,000-yard rushing season, joining Larry Csonka, who accomplished the feat three times from 1971-73.

The Thanksgiving Day game at Texas Stadium was sort of a homecoming for Williams. It was his first professional game in Texas since leaving the University of Texas.

Williams ended his career with the Longhorns as the NCAA's all-time leading rusher. He also won the Heisman Trophy his senior year.

He said he enjoyed the loud ovation he received as he took the field before the game.

"I've had a lot of ups and downs since I left here," Williams said. "But when I come back, they're always my number one fans. It really builds my confidence."

Williams was only the second runner this season to gain over 100 yards against the Cowboys.

MORE HOMECOMINGS: Dallas head coach Dave Wannstedt started his professional coaching career in Dallas as defensive coordinator under former Dolphins head coach Jimmy Johnson.

Miami assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Norv Turner, wide receivers coach Robert Ford and offensive line coach Tony Wise were also on that coaching staff.

After the victory, Wannstedt downplayed beating his former employer.

"There was always a great commitment to win here," Wannstedt said. "We respect Jerry Jones and we have lots of great memories here as well as great people."

NEW WARDROBE: They weren't orange, but they were different. Actually, they were old. As part of a NFL program entitled "Thanksgiving Classics," the Dolphins, along with each of the other three teams. wore their throwback style uniforms on Thursday.

For the Dolphins, it was he road whites with the orange stripe down the pants which was the same style worn by the team during the 1973 season. This season marks the 30th anniversary of the Dolphins 1973 Super Bowl Championship team, just the second in NFL history to win back- to-back world titles.

RUNNING MACHINE: Fiedler's 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was 10th career rushing touchdown and a new Dolphins' record. Fiedler was previously tied with Dan Marino and David Woodley with nine.

SCORING MACHINE: Jason Taylor's fumble recovery for a touchdown was the fourth of his career. He moved into a tie for second with two others for most fumble recoveries for touchdowns in NFL history. He is only one behind the all-time leader, Jessie Tuggle.

With a sack of Quincy Carter, Taylor also moved into third on the Dolphins all-time career chart. Taylor now has 64 1/2, which sandwiches him between Den Herder with 64 and Doug Better with 65 1/2.

EXTRA POINTS: With the win, the Dolphins guaranteed their 15th straight season of having a .500 record or better. It represents the 32nd time in the franchise's 38-year history that this feat has been achieved...Jamie Nails returned to his starting left guard position...Carter was the Cowboys leading rusher with 42 yards on four carries...Williams' fumble in the first in 99 carries dating back to the Dolphins Monday Night game against San Diego. It was Williams' 22nd career fumble, which is most in the NFL since 1999.
