Collier County school officials also auctioned off last week ice machines, video camcorders and furniture that's no longer used.
But those needing some wheels still can bid for those Dodge Caravans, 65-passenger mini-buses or a 1994 Pontiac Sunbird in need of transmission work.
"Most of them are activity buses or driver education cars," said Mark Nash, a district service manager.
School officials will sell off 23 vehicles in mid-December.
Those interested can call 593-2588.
"There'll be one day where they can take a look at everything sometime in early December," Nash said. "We've gotten buses bid for $1,000, but then there've been ones for $3,000 to $4,000."
Those interested would need to be put on the bid list and put down a 10 percent deposit.
The vehicle goes to the highest bidder through a sealed bid process.
All of the old buses and cars need some mechanical work.
There's a 1996 Dodge Caravan that needs transmission and suspension work, a 1999 Ford Windstar in need of engine work and a 1990 65-passenger International bus needing radiator and transmission work.
Lely High student Laura Fitzgerald said she wouldn't want a used driver's ed car, but thought it might be good for her younger sister.
"No, no, I wouldn't want it," said Laura while shopping at the Coastland Center mall. "But it'd be pretty funny if my dad bought it for my sister."
