Armed with a pressure defense that fronted interior passes and took away the passing lanes, the Cougars forced 22 turnovers and held the Celtics to 8-of-27 shooting in a 68-40 victory at the Barron Collier Tip-Off Classic.
"We're working hard, and I'm pleased with our effort," said Barron Collier coach Don Huprich.
Barron Collier guard Matt Cruse led the Cougars with 22 points. R.T. Murphy had 10 points, seven assists and four steals. Matt McGahey had eight points and five steals. Brent Dillingham had 12 rebounds.
"We have to learn that we have to be more careful with the ball," said Neumann coach Tony Grasso, "and to be confident enough in our offense to run it the way we do in practice. You have to learn with every failure."
For the Celtics, Jay Malanphy had 14 points. Eric Bratt had seven points and three steals.
